Newborn hiccups
Newborn hiccups are normal – in fact, hiccups are common in babies under a year old. Hiccups are usually harmless and don't bother babies.
"It's a nuisance to parents, but not so much to the baby," says Lynnette MazurOpens a new window, M.D., a professor of pediatrics at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
"Unless the hiccups interfere with daily activities like sleeping or eating, there's no need to see a healthcare provider."
